A lead-generation website is built to earn an enquiry, a phone call or a booking, rather than a basket sale. It suits businesses that sell a service or a larger project and need the website to start the conversation. This page explains when a purpose-built site is worth it, how it differs from a shop, and which of our two lead-generation builds to look at.

What a lead-generation website is for

If you sell a service, the website has one job: to help the right person decide to get in touch. It does that by being clear about what you do, easy to trust and easy to act on. Looks come second to that.

We build these sites around a few plain principles.

  • Say what you do, for whom, and why it helps, in the first screen. A visitor should know within seconds whether the page is for them.
  • One main action per page. The button says what happens next, such as “Get a quote”, not “Submit”. Other routes stay available, but they do not compete with it.
  • Proof near the decision. Real client names, quotes and reviews, shown only with permission and only if they are true.
  • Short forms. Only the questions you need, with visible labels, clear error messages and a confirmation that says when they will hear back.
  • More than one way in. A form, a phone number that works with one tap, and a booking link for people who are ready to talk.
  • Tracking that matches the goal. Form submissions, calls and bookings are counted, so you can see what is working.

Since February 2026, UK law has let a website use cookies purely to count visits and improve the site without asking first, as long as visitors are told and can switch them off easily. Advertising and tracking cookies still need consent before they load, and saying no must be as easy as saying yes. We set up the banner to match what your site actually uses.

When a purpose-built site beats a template

A template is often the right answer, and we say so when it is. A purpose-built site earns its cost when:

  • your offer needs explaining, and a stock layout forces it into the wrong shape;
  • trust is the main barrier, so proof, process and credentials need careful placement;
  • you want booking, forms and follow-up to work together, and to be measured;
  • several services each need their own page, with their own message and next step; or
  • you want to improve the site over time, which is easier when the structure has been planned.

It is not worth it when the site is a simple holding page, or when no one can answer enquiries promptly. A faster reply usually does more than a better layout.

How it differs from an ecommerce build

A shop is built to help people browse, compare and check out. A lead-generation site is built to start one conversation. That changes the work.

  • There is no basket, so the page structure follows a story: the problem, your answer, the proof and the next step.
  • Copy and proof take more of the effort than product data does.
  • Success is measured in enquiries and bookings that turn into work, not orders.

If you sell products online, our Shopify development work is the better starting point.

Professional service websites

For firms where trust and a clear offer decide who gets the call. We cover proof, booking and local presence, and we flag the points that regulated sectors need to be careful about. Read about professional service websites.

B2B websites

For companies with longer sales cycles and several people involved in every decision. We plan for the whole buying journey, from first visit to handing the lead to your sales team. Read about B2B websites.

Getting found and getting better

A website only brings in enquiries if the right people see it. If your customers are nearby, our local SEO work builds on the site. When you have traffic but few enquiries, conversion rate optimisation helps you find where visitors drop out. And if you are not sure what is putting people off, UX research looks at how real visitors use the site before anything is changed.

The technology we build on

We build lead-generation websites on Astro, styled with Tailwind, with content edited through Decap. Pages are fast because they are built ahead of time, there are no plugins to keep patching, and your team can edit text and images without touching code. Forms and bookings connect to the CRM of your choice. You own the content and the domain.

How a project runs

The four steps above are the same for every lead-generation site. You review the pages as they are built, and before launch we agree a checklist that covers every form, phone link, booking route and tracked action. After launch we check that each enquiry reaches the right person.

What it costs

Our pricing page shows what we charge from. The final price depends mainly on the number of pages, how much copy and proof work is needed and which integrations you want. You get a fixed quote in writing.

Every website is different, so the price depends on what you need. You get a fixed quote in writing after a conversation. See the pricing page.

Each service in Lead-gen websites

  • Professional service websites

Websites for firms where trust decides who gets the call. A clear offer, honest proof, simple booking and a proper local presence.

  • B2B websites

Websites for companies selling to other businesses. They support a long decision, answer each buyer's questions and pass good leads to your sales team.

How it works

Every project is different, so timings depend on its size and complexity. You get a realistic timeline in writing before work starts, and we never promise results by a date.

  1. Step 1: Discover

We learn what an enquiry is worth to you, who you want to hear from and what stops them getting in touch.

  2. Step 2: Plan

We agree the pages, the main action on each one and what you can show as proof. The scope and price are agreed in writing.

  3. Step 3: Build

We write the structure and copy with you, build the site and test the forms, booking and tracking as it takes shape.

  4. Step 4: Launch and learn

We go live together, check that every enquiry reaches the right person, then review what the numbers show.

Questions people ask

What is a lead-generation website?

It is a website whose main job is to earn an enquiry, a call or a booking, rather than a basket sale. Every page is built around one clear next step, and the site is set up so you can see how many enquiries it brings in.

When is a purpose-built site better than a template?

A template suits a business with a simple offer and few pages. A purpose-built site earns its cost when your offer needs explaining, when trust matters a great deal, or when you need booking, tracking and follow-up to work together. We tell you which we would choose, and why.

How is this different from an ecommerce build?

A shop is built around browsing, a basket and checkout. A lead-generation site is built around one conversation starting, so it spends more effort on explaining the offer, showing proof and making contact easy. If you sell products online, our Shopify work is the better fit.

Which platform do you build on?

We build on Astro, a fast modern framework, styled with Tailwind and edited through Decap, a simple content editor. Pages load quickly, there are no plugins to keep patching, and enquiries go to the CRM of your choice.

Can you promise a number of enquiries?

No. The number depends on your market, your offer, your traffic and how quickly you reply. We can make the site clear, fast and measurable, and we show you what the numbers say.

Do you help with finding local customers?

Yes. A good site is the base for being found in local search, and our local SEO work builds on it once the site is live.
