WooCommerce to Shopify migration
A careful move from WooCommerce to Shopify that keeps your data, your URLs and your search rankings intact.
Is this right for you?
Who it is for
Store owners whose WooCommerce store has started to take more time to maintain than to sell from, and who want a steadier base.
When it is not
A WooCommerce store that is fast, secure and easy to run, with no need to move, or one that needs a payment processor Shopify does not support. We tell you honestly if staying put is the better choice.
What is included
- Your products, customers, order history and content moved across and checked
- A Shopify theme built or adapted to match your brand
- Payment methods set up and tested
- Every old address mapped to its new home with a permanent redirect
What moves, what is replaced
What moves across or changes
- Products, variants and imagesTitles, descriptions, prices, SKUs, stock levels and categories.
- CustomersCustomer records move across. Customers set a new password the first time they sign in.
- Order historyPast orders are imported so your records and customers' histories stay complete.
- Pages and blog postsContent is moved and checked, with its web addresses kept or redirected.
What gets replaced
- Your theme and designWooCommerce themes do not carry over. We build or adapt a Shopify theme to match your brand.
- Checkout and paymentsCheckout works differently on Shopify. We set up and test your payment methods.
- PluginsMost plugins have a Shopify app or built-in equivalent. We list each one and agree what replaces it.
A WooCommerce store can serve you well for years. When maintenance starts to take over, Shopify can give you a steadier base. This page explains how we move you across.
Why people make the move
- Updates and plugin clashes that break the store at the wrong moment
- Hosting that slows down as the catalogue grows
- Time spent on maintenance instead of selling
- Security patches that depend on you or your developer remembering
How your search rankings are protected
Every page that has a value in search gets a redirect from its old address to its new one. We map them one by one, before launch, rather than relying on automatic rules alone.
- Crawl and list your URLs. We record every address on your current store, and note which ones bring in visitors and links.
- Map each old URL to a new one. Every old address is matched to its new home on Shopify, one by one, and set up as a permanent redirect.
- Carry over titles and descriptions. Page titles, meta descriptions and headings move with the page, so search engines see the same content.
- Test before launch. We check the redirects on a staging copy, so broken links are fixed before they can affect visitors.
- Monitor after launch. We watch search reports and errors for several weeks, and fix anything that slips through.
Keeping WooCommerce patched
Whatever you decide about moving, keep WordPress, WooCommerce and every plugin up to date, and remove the ones you no longer use. Most problems arise in third-party plugins rather than the core. That includes PHP2Shell, two critical flaws in PHP itself announced in October 2026, which affect any store running PHP until it’s updated. Our article on Magento and WooCommerce security flaws in 2026 has the dated detail.
Where to go next
- For the process that applies to every platform, see our Shopify migration services overview.
- The new store is built to the standard described on our Shopify development page.
- Protecting your search visibility carries on after launch. Our SEO for ecommerce service builds on the redirects above, and a GA4 setup and audit keeps your tracking continuous through the move.

How we do it
Every project is different, so timings depend on its size and complexity. You get a realistic timeline in writing before work starts, and we never promise results by a date.
Step 1: Audit
We review your products, customers, orders, content and URLs, and agree what moves.
Step 2: Build
We set up the Shopify store, import your data and rebuild what needs rebuilding.
Step 3: Test
We check orders, emails, payments and redirects before anything goes public.
Step 4: Launch
We switch over at a quiet time and monitor search and sales closely afterwards.
What it costs
Shopify migration starts from £7,500. The price changes with the size of your catalogue, the integrations to reconnect and how complex your data is. Every project gets a fixed quote in writing, and shows what is included.
Questions people ask
Will I lose my search rankings?
Not if the move is planned properly. We map every old URL to its new home and check the redirects before and after launch.
Do my customers have to create new accounts?
No. We import customer records, and customers can set a new password the first time they sign in.
Will my store be offline during the move?
Your current store stays live while we build the new one. The switch-over is planned for a quiet time and is usually brief.
Can I keep my domain name?
Yes. Your domain stays yours and is pointed at Shopify when the new store goes live.
