Shopify migration services
A careful move to Shopify from any platform. We migrate your data and content, rebuild what you need as Shopify features, and protect your search traffic.
Is this right for you?
Who it is for
Store owners moving to Shopify from WooCommerce, Magento, IRP Commerce or another platform, who want their data, their addresses and their search traffic looked after.
When it is not
A store that is working well on its current platform and has no need to move, or one that needs a payment processor Shopify does not support. We tell you honestly if staying put is the better choice.
Your data is yours
- Your customers, orders, products, content and media belong to your business, not to us and not to your old platform.
- Before anything else, we agree what can be exported, in what format and when, so you stay in control of your data throughout the move.
- Your domain name stays yours. It is pointed at Shopify only when the new store goes live.
- Your current store stays live until the new one has been tested and approved.
What is included
- Your products, customers, order history and content moved across and checked
- Functionality rebuilt as Shopify features or reviewed apps, not copied across as code
- A Shopify theme built or adapted to match your brand
- Every old address mapped to its new home with a permanent redirect
- Payment methods, emails and tracking set up and tested before launch
What moves, what is replaced
What moves across or changes
- Products, variants and imagesTitles, descriptions, prices, SKUs, stock levels and categories.
- CustomersCustomer records move across. Customers set a new password the first time they sign in.
- Order historyPast orders are imported so your records and customers' histories stay complete.
- Pages and blog postsContent is moved and checked, with its web addresses kept or redirected.
What gets replaced
- Your theme and designThemes do not carry over between platforms. We build or adapt a Shopify theme to match your brand.
- Checkout and paymentsCheckout works differently on Shopify. We set up and test your payment methods.
- Plugins and extensionsMost have a Shopify feature or reviewed app that does the same job. We list each one and agree what replaces it, and some are not needed at all.
- Custom codeWe do not copy it across. We rebuild what the business needs as Shopify features or reviewed apps.
Moving to Shopify is a big decision, and it should feel like a managed project, not a leap. This page explains how we move a store from any platform: why people move, what comes across, what is replaced and how we protect your search traffic. If you already know your platform, go straight to WooCommerce to Shopify, Magento to Shopify or IRP Commerce to Shopify.
Why people move
- Time spent on updates, hosting and fixes instead of selling
- Running costs that keep climbing as the store grows
- Changes that need a developer, even for small things
- A store that has grown more complex than the business needs
- A wish for a steadier base that your own team can run
How a migration works
The steps are the same whichever platform you are leaving. What differs is what the old platform lets us export, and how much needs rebuilding.
- Audit. We review your products, customers, orders, content, URLs and integrations, and agree what moves and what is replaced.
- Plan. We agree the exports, the redirect map and the Shopify features or apps that replace your current functionality.
- Build and import. We set up the store, import your data and build the theme.
- Test. We check orders, emails, payments, tracking and redirects on a staging copy.
- Launch and monitor. We switch over at a quiet time and watch search and sales closely afterwards.
Migrate data, not code
We move your products, customers, orders and content. We do not copy your old platform’s code across. Instead, we rebuild what your business needs as Shopify features or reviewed apps.
There are two reasons.
- It fits. Code written for one platform rarely suits another. Rebuilding gives you a store that works the way Shopify is meant to work, and that your team can maintain.
- It leaves problems behind. If something unwanted has crept into an old store’s code or extensions, copying that code across could carry it with it. Moving data and content only gives the new store a clean start.
If you think your current store may have been compromised, contact your host or a security specialist, change your passwords and keys, and take it seriously. Do this before we begin, not after.
Apps and themes on any platform still need to be chosen with care. We review each app we recommend, and tell you what it does and what it costs.
Shopify hosts the store, looks after the platform itself and is certified PCI DSS Level 1 for card payments. What stays with you is the apps and theme you choose, who has staff access, and making sure every account uses two-step sign-in.
What moves and what is replaced
Products, customers, order history and content come across and are checked. Themes, checkout, plugins and custom code do not carry over, so we rebuild them as Shopify features or reviewed apps. The platform pages show the detail for each platform.
How your search rankings are protected
Every page that has a value in search gets a redirect from its old address to its new one. We map them one by one, before launch, rather than relying on automatic rules alone.
- Crawl and list your URLs. We record every address on your current store, and note which ones bring in visitors and links.
- Map each old URL to a new one. Every old address is matched to its new home and set up as a permanent redirect.
- Carry over titles and descriptions. Page titles, meta descriptions and headings move with the page.
- Test before launch. We check the redirects on a staging copy, so broken links are fixed before they can affect visitors.
- Monitor after launch. We watch search reports and errors after launch until we are satisfied the move has worked, and fix anything that slips through.
Your data stays yours
Your data belongs to your business. We agree what can be exported before we start, your domain stays yours, and your current store stays live until the new one is ready.
What it costs
Shopify migration starts from £7,500, whichever platform you are moving from. The price changes with the size of your catalogue, the integrations to reconnect and how complex your data is. You get a fixed quote in writing. Our pricing page explains how we work it out, and what a Shopify migration costs goes into more detail.
Keeping PHP platforms patched
If you stay on a PHP-based platform such as WooCommerce or Magento for now, keep the platform and every extension up to date, remove any you no longer use, and have someone responsible for applying security patches promptly. That includes PHP2Shell, two critical flaws in PHP itself announced in October 2026, which affect any store running PHP until it’s updated. Our article on Magento and WooCommerce security flaws in 2026 has the dated detail.
Where to go next
- Choose your platform: WooCommerce to Shopify, Magento to Shopify or IRP Commerce to Shopify.
- The new store is built to the standard described on our Shopify development page.
- Protecting your search visibility carries on after launch. Our SEO for ecommerce service builds on the redirects above, and a GA4 setup and audit keeps your tracking continuous through the move.
- Read keeping your SEO when you migrate to Shopify for the steps in more detail.
How we do it
Every project is different, so timings depend on its size and complexity. You get a realistic timeline in writing before work starts, and we never promise results by a date.
Step 1: Audit
We review your products, customers, orders, content, URLs and integrations, and agree what moves and what is replaced.
Step 2: Plan
We agree the data we will export, how each old address maps to a new one, and which Shopify features or apps replace your current functionality.
Step 3: Build and import
We set up the Shopify store, import your data, build the theme and rebuild what needs rebuilding.
Step 4: Test
We check orders, emails, payments, tracking and redirects before anything goes public.
Step 5: Launch and monitor
We switch over at a quiet time and watch search, sales and errors closely afterwards.

Questions people ask
Which platforms can you move me from?
We have dedicated pages for WooCommerce, Magento and IRP Commerce. We can also move stores from other platforms, once we have seen what can be exported.
Will I lose my search rankings?
Not if the move is planned properly. We map every old URL to its new home and check the redirects before and after launch.
Do my customers have to create new accounts?
No. We import customer records, and customers can set a new password the first time they sign in.
Will my store be offline during the move?
Your current store stays live while we build the new one. The switch-over is planned for a quiet time and is usually brief.
Why do you not copy my code across?
Old code rarely fits how Shopify works, and it can carry old problems with it. We move your data and content, then rebuild what you need as Shopify features or reviewed apps.
How much does it cost?
Shopify migration starts from £7,500. The final price depends on the size of your catalogue, the integrations to reconnect and how complex your data is, and you get a fixed quote in writing.
