A migration has no single price, and anyone who quotes one without seeing your store is guessing. This article explains what moves the cost up or down, so you can judge a quote when you get one.
What affects the cost
The size of your catalogue
More products, variants and images mean more to move and check. The data itself is usually the easy part. Tidying it is not.
How much needs rebuilding
Your theme does not carry over, so the design is rebuilt or adapted. A simple, well-built store is quicker than one with many custom pages.
Plugins and integrations
Each plugin needs a Shopify app or a different approach. Connections to stock, shipping or accounting tools take time to set up and test.
Your search traffic
If search brings you a lot of visitors, more care goes into mapping redirects and checking them. This is worth paying for.
What a good quote includes
- What moves, what changes and what gets replaced
- The number of redirects that will be mapped and tested
- What happens after launch, and for how long
- What is not included
How to compare quotes
Compare what each quote covers, not only the total. A lower price that leaves out redirects or testing can cost far more later.
Our own Shopify migrations start from £7,500, and the pricing page shows what changes the price.
